Keighley Under-14s came off the pitch on Sunday covered in mud, but with a great feeling of a job very well done against Ilkley.
Keighley defended against the wind and up the slope but held Ilkley at the break with some fantastic tackling. They played to their game plan in the second half always looking for attacking options with the elements in their favour.
The tactic paid divdends for Craig Spencer who scored the first try. Scott Dyson's well timed pass saw Oliver Robinson in space to outpace the defence to cross the line. He then wanted to show the crowd how to juggle and somehow managed to drop the ball, fortunately Scott Dyson was able to touch down for the score.
The third try for Keighley saw Ollie Robinson make amends, crossing from short range with a ball won by the forwards. Scott Dyson converted all three, Ilkley pulled one back unconverted.
This was a hard fought win in terrible conditions thanks to a great performance from the whole team.
