Angry residents in Nab Wood Drive, Shipley, are to apply for a substantial reduction in their rates after weeks of waiting in vain for something to be done about a "bomb site" near their homes. It is now nearly four months since part of the hillside above houses being built at the Cottingley end of Nab Wood Drive is alleged to have slipped after heavy rain.

Another phase in the centuries old history of Tong Hall, Bradford, began today when it was informally opened as a hostel for student nursery teachers and staff of the Margaret McMillan Memorial College. Over 40 girls from every part of the country have arrived at the hall. The hall was purchased by the Corporation last year for £11,250, and some £7,000 has been spent on the furnishings. Care has been taken not to damage any of the fine woodwork.
