Two new primary schools will be built in Manningham to cater for the area's booming population.
The first will open on the former Margaret McMillan First School site - Scotchman Road, Heaton - in September 2003.
Later, a second new school will be set up on the site of the TF Davies Centre, Clifton Villas, until recently used for teachers' training courses.
Whetley Primary School and Miriam Lord Primary School are also to be increased in size to cater for the number of children likely to need school places in the inner city neighbourhoods. The new schools are the most dramatic developments outlined in a new plan charting the pattern of local schools until 2005.
The School Organisation Plan 2002-2005 will go out for formal consultation after being presented to a meeting of the Education Policy Partnership.
The blueprint governs the pattern of size and types of school that experts predict will be required.
Manningham and Girlington are the adjoining neighbourhoods where the booming population will require extra school places.
And existing primary schools will also have to be enlarged in the Bradford Moor area. Byron, Bradford Moor, Lapage and Thornbury Primary Schools are all being recommended for enlarged intakes.
In the Secondary schools sector, experts believe there are almost the correct number of places in all parts of the district apart from Keighley.
They are proposing to enlarge the intake at Holy Family RC School from its current five form entry to a seven form entry.
"The Holy Family School is a specialist school for modern languages and the governors are keen to be able to offer more such places to local pupils, albeit not necessarily practising Catholics," the draft report says. "The necessary building work would entail a capital bid." The document also contains proposals to reduce the number of school places in some areas which are predicted to have a surplus.
"In general it is the large housing estates where there is a surplus of provision. Some schools will never attract enough pupils, and will continue to suffer both economically and educationally."
Areas where proposals may be introduced to reduce intakes at some schools are Thorpe Edge, Holmewood, Bierley, Woodside, Reevy Hill, Windhill, Ingrow and Baildon.
