'I've been a world champion and you can be too'.
That is the message for Bradford Bulls stars Robbie Paul and Brian McDermott from Wibsey cycling legend Yvonne McGregor, pictured, as the city prepares for the big World Club Championship final against Australia's Newcastle Knights on Friday.
McGregor, 2000 world champion and the first British woman ever to win an Olympic cycling medal, told the Bulls: "You can be crowned world champions on Friday if you have the self-belief. There is no reason why you can't win this game, so get on your bike and go and do it."
McGregor, now 40, believes the Bulls have a great team spirit and the cohesion needed to win the global title in front of a capacity crowd at the McAlpine Stadium.
She is now back in training herself hoping to break the European hour record of 43.24km at Manchester's Velodrome in April.
"I have officially retired from international competition," she said.
"But it is a personal goal to set this record."
And she confirmed she would definitely not be taking part in the Commonwealth Games this summer.
