Leek Town 0, Guiseley 1- Guiseley made light of league form when they travelled to Leek Town and triumphed in their UniBond President's Cup quarter-final last night.

Neil Parsley's side, mid-table in division one, overran third-placed Leek and earned a deserved win when Ryan Senior rifled home the game's only goal on the hour.

The visitors had the ball in Leek's net just two minutes earlier but Andy Shuttleworth, who got the final touch, had strayed offside as he stabbed the ball over the line from Ben Thackwray's header following a cross from Mark Stuart.

Former Bradford City midfielder Stuart had almost broken the deadlock midway through the first half. The ball had broken loose after Senior had challenged home keeper Kevin Welsby on the edge of the area.

Stuart turned the ball goal ward but a defender ushered the shot away from the six yard line.

One of a dozen chances for Guiseley in the second-half fell to Nick Hey after good work from Senior. Hey saw his shot cleared off the line and the visitors could have lost heart when Shuttleworth's strike was ruled out moments later but soon sealed their victory.

The handling of Guiseley keeper John Lamb was impressive throughout and he was called on to make only one vital save, tipping a header from a corner over his bar, just after his side had taken the lead.

Bradford Park Avenue host UniBond Premier Division counterparts Blyth Spartans at Horsfall Stadium tonight in their League Challenge Cup quarter-final which was also held over from Saturday because of a waterlogged pitch.

Manager Trevor Storton will be able to name an unchanged squad after his team have had a full week to recover from their 5-2 league victory over Bamber Bridge.

That win took Avenue up to 16th in the Premier Division and through the 30 point barrier.
