A furious car owner today demanded action after a bus seat was hurled out of a window and sent crashing into his vehicle.
Andrew Bell, pictured with the seat, has been left with a bill for hundreds of pounds after a window of his Honda was shattered when the seat was thrown from the upstairs of the school bus.
Workmen and passers-by watched in horror as the seat smashed through the window of the Honda vehicle causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage.
Car owner, 50-year-old Mr Bell, of Beacon Road, Wibsey, Bradford, said: "When I saw what had happened I just thought 'oh God'. If anyone had been in the car they would have been seriously injured.
"The children are obviously out of control and now they have gone too far."
The incident happened on Beacon Road, as the special A82 school service was taking children home from Buttershaw High School.
Mr Bell, who was in his home at the time, said: "Workmen heard a bang and a crash but they did not see who had done it.
"They told me they regularly get abused by children who are on their way to and from school."
His neighbour rushed round to his house to deliver the bad news and now the bus seat is in Mr Bell's home as evidence of the incident.
"I don't see why I should pay for the actions of children out of control," he said. "The bus is like a mobile zoo.
"I want to make sure this matter is not just brushed under the carpet."
The incident has been reported to West Yorkshire Police and bus company First, which operates the service on behalf of Metro, has also launched its own investigation.
Brandon Jones, of bus company First, said: "I stress the seriousness of this incident and we are working closely with the school and education transport to solve the problem.
"It is critical to identify the person responsible for the damage and we will be coming back to Mr Bell and keeping him fully informed of the way we are handling the matter."
Deputy head teacher of Buttershaw High School, Allan Jarvis, said he had spoken to Mr Bell about the incident.
"We believe that we have identified the culprit," he said. "It is one child that is involved and I will help the police if they request it."
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police confirmed the incident had been reported and investigations into the incident at 3.15pm on Wednesday were under way.
