A £1.8 million lifeboat funded from the legacy of a woman from Lightcliffe, near Brighouse, was being officially named today.
Norah Burr, who died in 1999, named the lifeboat after her 21-year-old son William Gordon Burr who was tragically killed in a motorbike accident.
Mrs Burr, who was 88, and her late husband Stephen decided it would be a lasting memorial to their son.
The Severn class boat, called RNLB William Gordon Burr, is due to be dedicated to serve with the RNLI's relief fleet at a naming ceremony at its Poole headquarters.
A Coastguard helicopter will fly past and the lifeboat will be put to sea for a short demonstration.
