Stuart McCall is desperate to go out on a high against West Brom tomorrow in his final league clash at Valley Parade.
The City skipper, whose dad Andy played 32 games at inside-forward for the Baggies, is ready for an emotion-filled finale against a team on the brink of promotion to the Premiership.
McCall said: "I'm glad it's a game that means so much. It should be a fantastic atmosphere and while I would like West Brom to go up, obviously we all want to finish at home with a win.
"We as players owe it to the supporters to do well, there is no pressure on us and we can go out and give it the best we can.
"And I'd love to score. I will be cropping up in the opposing box more than I would normally do and I'll be taking all the free-kicks and penalties!"
McCall heads the list of six being released in the summer and said: "It was expected but it's still disappointing because you know it's the end. I've been back here four years and really enjoyed it, even though this season has not worked out as well as we hoped.
"But now the decision has been made and it's a chance for the club to look forward and put the youngsters in. For me, it's an opportunity to look elsewhere.
"I'm fortunate to have played professional football and I've enjoyed every minute of it. While I'm still loving it, I don't want to stop.
"The dressing room is the best part for me and while I still feel I can contribute, it's something I want to keep doing."
City manager Nicky Law said: "A lot of people will be sad to see Stuart go and I will as well. He has been magnificent for me but he's 38 this year and you can't go on forever.
"He's been a great servant for the club and it was a very difficult decision. But it was one that I had to make."
Law, who will not contend his FA misconduct charge, believes West Brom could crack under the strain having overhauled Wolves in the race to finish second behind champions Manchester City.
He said: "They are now the ones being chased and that creates a different pressure. I've said all along it will go to the last game and it's a difficult one to choose. But I think Wolves have possibly got that little bit more craft and maybe more goals in them."
Baggies boss Gary Megson admitted: "I'm amazed we are in this situation and I wouldn't be human if I didn't have any nerves. This is one of the biggest matches of my managerial career."
l Lee Sharpe, who has also been released by the Bantams, is being linked with Blackpool.
