Mick Czuba (3), who has performed admirably for the Embassy club this season, continued his good form with a well taken treble in the Boothman Plate against Johnson & Johnson.
Even with home advantage, the Gargrave based team had no answer to Czuba as first Derek Stanforth (7) lost to the Embassy man 22-20, 21-16, followed by Alan Ripley (8) 16-21, 21-18, 21-16 and finally John Pullen (2) 21-14, 16-21, 21-15.
Unsurprisingly, Pullen was the host's top player with his two wins against Steve Crossland (1) 21-11, 21-15 and Clive Sherratt (0) 21-11, 21-17 providing J & J with some consolation in a 7-2 defeat.
Oakworth B, another team with home advantage, fared little better against Lothersdale C who had Jack Anderson (2) on top form with his best win coming against Steve Smith (7) 15-21, 21-17, 21-17 on his way to a full house.
Good support came from Richard Crookes (1) with a couple that included a 23-21, 22-20 defeat of Paul Hollindrake (11) and Alec Pue (9) who also got the better of Hollindrake 21-18, 16-21, 21-18.
A couple for Smith and an Alistair McIlroy (8) win against Pue 21-18, 21-18 completed the scoring for Oakworth in a 6-3 reversal.
St Wilf's were unlucky to come up against a determined Ilkley Road A team chasing their last remaining chance of silverware in a season that has seen them miss out on promotion by the narrowest of margins and fall at the semi-final stage of the Naylor Cup.
The 9-0 scoreline did scant justice to the Gilstead trio of Alex Brough (16), William Lister (10) and Mary Lister (16) who lost by the narrowest possible two point margin on no fewer than 13 occasions out of a possible 20.
William Lister was particularly unfortunate to end without a victory with two of his rubbers requiring deciders that culminated in a deuce finish, illustrated by his defeat to Steve Barton (4) 14-21, 21-18, 22-20.
The only team to win at home was Wilsden whose reward for a 6-3 defeat of Ilkley Road C is a mouthwatering quarter final tie against Terriers B.
Luke Broadbent (4), Adam Broadbent (4) and Dave Broadbent (8) all got the better of the luckless Ken Feather (11), although it went to three against Dave 19-21, 21-14, 21-18.
Luke also defeated Paul Stead (11) but lost to Steve Ives (9) 21-19, 16-21, 21-16, while brother Adam did the opposite, beating Ives 21-19, 21-14, but slipping up to Stead 21-11, 21-10.
The other point for the visitors also came from Stead who got the better of Dave 20-22, 21-19, 21-19 before Dave just pipped Ives 30-28, 18-21, 24-22 in the set of the round.
RESULTS - Boothman Plate second round: Johnson & Johnson 2, Embassy C 7; Oakbank B 3, Lothersdale C 6; St Wilfs 0, Ilkley Road A 9; Wilsden 6, Ilkley Road C 3. Division One: Lothersdale B 1, Embassy A 9.
