Alan Combe linked up with the Scotland squad today as Nicky Law geared up for a summer trying to sign him for City.
The Bantams manager saluted on-loan goalkeeper Combe for another fine display against second-placed West Brom, which included a candidate for save of the season to deny Trevor Benjamin.
As Combe prepared for a possible international debut against Nigeria at Aberdeen's Pittodrie on Wednesday, Law again revealed his determination to snap him up for good.
Law said: "Alan's been brilliant since he's been here and he deserves his call-up for the full Scotland squad. He proved why again on Saturday and that's why we are attempting to secure him on a full-time basis.
"I don't think the Scotland call-up will change his position with Dundee United. He's obviously not in the manager's plans there.
"But all the time that Alan has been down in England he will have alerted others. He's in the shop window with us and has taken his opportunity extremely well.
"Alan felt his way in the first couple of games which wasn't surprising after being out of the first-team for so long in Scotland. But he has proved since then what a good goalkeeper he is."
Baggies chief Gary Megson was stunned to see Combe keep out Benjamin's downward header, an effort which threatened to cost his team two crucial promotion points.
Megson said: "It was a great save, not just the save itself but to also get it over the top of the bar as well." Combe said: "I've been in a few Scotland under-21 squads before but only on the bench. It would be fantastic if I could get on even if it's only for a few minutes."
City were unable to give Stuart McCall a winning send-off in his final league game at Valley Parade. Instead they were cruelly condemned to a 12th home loss of the season by a last-minute penalty.
Law said: "From the first to the last minute we matched them.
"Considering one team has one foot in the Premiership and one has just clinched its status in the First Division, I don't think there was a massive divide between the two.
"Unfortunately, we put ourselves in a vulnerable position at the end.
"You could see the ref was going to give something, we gave him the opportunity and he gladly obliged.
"It was disappointing that we couldn't hang on for that other minute or so because we didn't deserve to lose."
