Dundee United boss Alex Smith today confirmed: I want Eoin Jess.
As first reported in the T&A, Jess could be involved in the transfer deal which brings on-loan goalkeeper Alan Combe permanently to Valley Parade.
City's top-scorer began his career with Smith at Aberdeen and the Tannadice manager is keen on the pair linking up again.
Smith said: "We are exploring the possibility of Eoin coming here as it may be the way Bradford would want to secure the Alan Combe deal.
"But we have not spoken to the player and a lot could depend on whether he wants to return to Scotland."
Jim Jefferies brought Jess south of the border 16 months ago, initially on loan until the end of the Premiership campaign.
The 18-cap Scottish international signed a three-year deal last summer and has played more games this season than any other City team-mate. He notched 11 goals by the middle of November and is still the club's top scorer with 14.
Combe, who still has another year of his Dundee United contract to run, sat on the bench for Scotland last night.
He was not called into action at Pittodrie as the Scots were beaten 2-1 by Nigeria.
