One of Heckmondwike's most historical industrial structures is slowly vanishing from the skyline in a £90,000 demolition programme.
The 120ft-high gas holder, pictured, in Wormald Street is being dismantled over a 16-week period. Built in 1953, the tank contained enough gas to supply 5,000 homes for a day.
It was put out of commission in 1991.
