Ripon Red Arrows 1
Addingham got back to winning ways on Saturday and completed another league double. Having slipped up against lowly Burley Addingham knew victory was vital in their quest for promotion.
Once again they had to shuffle the pack, this season Addingham have been unable to start the same 11 in two consecutive matches. This time it was Smithson out injured and in his place came Smith.
A great deal of Addingham's success so far has been down to the quality of their defending and in the main the back three of Mills, Wells
and Tim Marriot who by playing together for years through the junior sides have a good understanding of each other.
That said the three amigos must have been asleep as they failed to push out from a long ball and they allowed the Ripon striker to steal in and put the visitors ahead with a cheeky volleyed lob over Dobson.
This aside Addingham were starting to take control and it was not long before an equaliser arrived, unfortunately Perkins was adjudged off-side and the goal ruled out.
Ripon were struggling to cope with the constant Addingham pressure and when Smith's through ball found Barrow in space he levelled the game with a clinical finish.
The Addingham man soon made it two as he beat his man and then rounded the 'keeper before firing home from the tightest of angles.
With their lead now wiped out Ripon were at sixes and sevens and as Cummings hit a long ball down the centre Barrow followed its flight and as the 'keeper rushed forward to parry, Barrow completed his hat-trick in 15 minutes with a fantastic right foot volley on the turn.
From a corner Smith smashed the ball against the bar as Addingham began to run riot.
In the second-half the pattern continued with Perkins and Galasso both having good chances. Collins' superb shot looked destined for the net but the Ripon 'keeper made an unbelievable save to deny him.
Playing his first game as a striker Steve Perkins was having a great game and he showed a maturity beyond his years to make it four. Put through by Palmer he held of the giant defender and coolly wrong -footed the 'keeper.
Paul Marriot made a welcome return following his knee injury and he had a hand in the next goal. Perkins played a one-two with Marriot and ghosted passed his man
before being crudely felled in the box. Si Collins scored from the spot to make it 5-1.
Young Matty Cummings came on with ten minutes to play as he replaced Barrow and he nearly brought the house down. Fed by Parker he was clear on goal and as Addingham held its breathe he drilled in his shot. The 'keeper ,unaware of Matt's legendary status, spoiled the party with a fine save as Matt remained scoreless again.
Sterner tests will no doubt follow but following the poor display against Burley Addingham were worthy winners.
