Alan Combe is dreading the thought of going back to Dundee United on Monday morning.

City's on-loan goalkeeper will have to return to Scotland after the Walsall game unless a deal is quickly struck.

Combe said: "Dundee United have got three games left after the weekend. If something's not sorted here, I will back in training with them on Monday.

"That's the last thing I want because there is no chance of me playing again for them. I won't even be on the bench because it would cost them appearance money, so I'd just be going back up the road to sit in the stands."

Both City and Dundee United, who yesterday handed back-up keeper Paul Jarvie a new three-year contract, are keen to do a deal for the on-loan Combe. United boss Alex Smith is keen to take Eoin Jess to Tannadice although his former Aberdeen charge's wages could prove a major hurdle in an exchange.

Combe said: "United won't want me back because I'm just extra money for them to pay. They will be delighted to get me off the books to save another wage.

"There's no point in me coming down to Bradford for 16 games and then having to just leave and go back to training in the reserves at Tannadice. That's no good to anyone.

"It's been great playing regularly and I'm really hoping something can be sorted. But I don't want to look too far ahead in case it doesn't happen."

Combe was back at Valley Parade for training today after being on the Scotland bench for their friendly against Nigeria.

Bantams boss Nicky Law said: "I know Alan would like to come here but we'll have to see how it pans out. There is a lot of work to be done."
