The 1st Keighley Brownies were coining it in at a coffee morning at Keighley Shared Church at the weekend.

The group laid out hundreds of one-penny coins into a line stretching for 50 feet as part of a number of fund raising stunts to mark the Queens Golden Jubilee.

The Brownies are undertaking a series of challenges for the Queen's Golden Jubilee Challenge, and the money raised will be donated to Barnardos.

Brown Owl Shirley Wright said: "Everything is in 50's. They have to read 50 books, they are doing a 50 minute sponsored silence, and they have planted 50 golden bulbs in big tubs, which have been donated to The Oaks Resource Centre on Oakworth Road."

In addition to those and other tasks, the Brownies have to recycle 50 items and have each filled a matchbox with 50 different things, ranging from a press stud and a Christmas light bulb to a wobbly eye and a false nail.
