A Keighley man who ran the London Marathon on Sunday has described the 26-mile race as gruelling.
But Ahad Miah, from Lawkholme, was determined to finish because he did not want to disappoint the children who would benefit from his fundraising effort.
Ahad, 19, who was running the marathon for the first time, completed the race in four hours and 40 minutes and will donate the £1,000 he raised to the charity Children with Leukaemia.
He said: "That was one of the most strenuous things of my life."
But Ahad has not been put off running the charity trail, and has already applied to run in the New York Marathon.
He says he plans to continue to raise money for the needy and wants to recruit more people to help.
He added: "I do not think anyone from the Lawkholme area has done it before. I was just setting a precedent and wanted to set the standards in this area. I have already got six of my mates who want to do it next year."
