A Keighley teacher has successfully completed the London marathon, only 12 months after doctors warned that taking part could kill him.
Rob Grillo, Head of Geography at Greenhead High School, had no problems negotiating his way around the famous 26-mile course.
He clocked just over three hours, which was 20 minutes over the target time he had set himself.
The 33-year-old was told by his doctor last year that he could die if he ran the marathon after tests revealed he had an enlarged heart.
But 12 months on Rob (pictured), from Oakworth, had received the all clear and took his place with the thousands of other runners.
Rob, who is a member of Keighley and Craven Athletics Club, joked: "I didn't hit the wall, it fell on me!
"I was disappointed with my finishing time because I'd hoped for around two hours 40 minutes, but it was well worth taking part."
Bradford City fan Rob was selected to represent the Bantams in the Football Clubs' Challenge.
Each of the 92 Premiership and Nationwide League clubs nominated one runner each to represent them in the marathon. Fellow members of staff at Greenhead collected £200 for Rob, which will be given to Bradford Royal Infirmary's burns unit.
