A nationwide police hunt has been launched for two Keighley men wanted in connection with a murder in the town.

Detectives have put all sea and airports on alert, and have issued photographs and descriptions of the wanted men to authorities across Britain.

Officers suspect that the men - both Asian and in their late teens or early 20s - might attempt to escape to Pakistan. They are wanted in connection with the murder of Qadir Ahmed, 24, of Gordon Street, Keighley, who was stabbed and beaten to death at the Victoria Park roundabout on February 13.

Det Supt Phil Sedgwick, who is leading the inquiry, said they were looking for the two remaining suspects and had put out an alert to all ports and airports.

"These two men know we are looking for them - it's no secret - and we suspect they might try and leave the country."

The hunt has been launched as a follow-up to police raids in the Lawkholme area of Keighley on Wednesday, in which two men were arrested.

The two - Zahid Bashir, 26, of Emily Street, Keighley, and Aqaf Younis, 18, of Buxton Street, Keighley - appeared at Bingley Magistrates Court yesterday charged with conspiracy to murder Qadir Ahmed.

Applications for bail were refused, and both were remanded in custody until Thursday.

Last Friday Parveez Ashraf, 25, of Victoria Park View, Keighley, also appeared at Bingley court charged with conspiracy to murder Mr Ahmed, and was remanded in custody until today.

* Three men have been charged with the murder of Mr Ahmed. They are: Amjad Ali Azam, 20, of Surrey Street, Keighley; Mohammed Nazim Iqbal, 26, of Salt Street, Manningham; and 22-year-old Zulfaqar Ali Asif, of Bradford Road, Stockbridge, Keighley. Asif is also accused of robbery, possessing drugs, a handgun and ammunition. All three have been remanded in custody.
