These premises in Brewery Street, off Dalton Lane, were photographed on behalf of Keighley textile machinery makers Prince-Smith and Stell's Ltd shortly after their amalgamation with Hall and Stell's Ltd in 1931.
Originally Prince Smith and Son, the firm had started in two cottages in 1795, making small hand-turned spinning frames known as throstles.
A century and a half later it would advertise as "the largest works in the world solely engaged on the production of Wool Combing and Worsted Spinning Machinery of every class for the production of yarns from the Raw Wool."
Part of this growth came through amalgamation with Hall and Stell's, of Park Works, Dalton Lane, founded in 1860 by a former foreman at Prince Smith's. These Brewery Street buildings had been theirs.
The photograph was supplied by Mr Layton, of Southfield Avenue, Riddlesden.
