Better health and leisure provision for Newlands residents came one step closer to reality as work started on a new development.
The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Ghazanfer Khaliq, and Bradford North MP Terry Rooney, both pictured with spades, took part in a turf-cutting ceremony at the site of a new medical centre for Thorpe Edge.
The development will eventually house five doctors and include a community centre and sports hall.
The Newlands Partnership Board bought the disused site on Rockwell Lane as part of its regeneration strategy and teamed up with the NHS to improve access to care.
Revenue will be ploughed back into other community projects.
