The family of a six-year-old girl could be forced to cancel their summer holiday after she was injured by a motorcyclist while playing in a park.
Charlotte Austin was today back with her mum Diane and dad Nigel at their Allerton home after spending 24 hours under round-the-clock observation in Bradford Royal Infirmary.
It was feared the youngster had suffered a fractured skull in the accident in Peel Park, Undercliffe, on Saturday.
Tests revealed she had a suspected perforated ear-drum and cuts and bruising to her head and body.
But the youngster could be left permanently deaf in her right ear, and her parents fear she will not be well enough to fly to Tenerife.
Mrs Austin, 35, who works in a sales office, said: "Charlotte has to go back to hospital in three weeks for more tests on her ear.
"If it's still bad, we will not be able to go on holiday because she won't be able to fly, or go swimming or even play on the beech."
Mr Austin, 35, a draughtsman, told the Telegraph & Argus yesterday how he watched his eldest daughter thrown in the air 'like a rag doll' by the impact of the crash.
Bradford Council has pledged to introduce a raft of security measure to improve safety at the park which Mrs Austin welcomed.
She said: "It's a start, and anything is an improvement, but it's such a big problem.
"The Council and the police are limited in what they can do. I'm not against these bikers if they're supervised in a safe area, but not in a public park."
A Council spokesman said its Park Rangers patrolled Peel Park six times a day, but this would be increased.
The spokesman said: "Unfortunately, illegal motor biking in our parks and open spaces is an ever increasing problem.
"We are continually working with the police in an effort to resolve it.
"We shall be seeking an urgent meeting with the police in order to address what further actions can be taken to prevent any recurrence if incidents such as this in the future.
"We are also working to improve security around the Peel Park perimeter and at all pedestrian access points."
