Bobby Vanzie has been compensated over his European title farce - and promised the fight will DEFINITELY go on next month.
Vanzie is still reeling after opponent Sandro Casamonica pulled out through injury on Tuesday, just four days before they were due to meet in Milan.
But the blow has been softened after promoter Salvatore Cherchi agreed to cover the Bradford lightweight's loss of earnings. And Cherchi has also cancelled a show he had booked for May 25 to free the date for the European clash to finally go ahead.
Casamonica, who has already cancelled twice, will have no get-out clause this time. He will be hit by legal action if there are any more delays.
British Boxing Board of Control general secretary Simon Block has issued his support to Vanzie and will be in Italy at ring-side.
Vanzie said: "Simon doesn't want any skull-duggery, there's been more than enough of that already. I thought I'd seen everything in boxing but this has been unbelievable.
"But at least there is some light at the end of the tunnel again and the board have assured me that legal proceedings will be launched if it doesn't go ahead.
"Hopefully it will be third time lucky and I can go out there and do the job I've been waiting so long for - beating Casamonica and returning to England as champion of Europe.
"I'd like to thank the Bradford people who have been really sympathetic over what has been going on. I've been inundated with phone calls of support and it's nice to feel appreciated.
"The best I can do to thank them is to go to Italy and win this belt and then defend it over here. At least when it's in England you won't have all the nonsense."
Vanzie will take a week off before getting down to another month of serious training.
"It's all about being mentally strong and not letting anything affect me. This episode has just made me stronger and Casamonica will find that out to his cost when we eventually get in the ring."
Sky and Eurosport are both expected to pay for the rights to screen the fight.
