Bradford's small and medium sized enterprises are more optimistic about the economy says a report. The findings from market information company Taylor Nelson Sofres show business leaders are happier than four months ago. The results reveal one in eight small businesses believe there will be no recession in the next 12 months. In October last year the figure stood at one in 16.
In the event of a recession 51 per cent of SMEs say they would cut spending.
Just over one in five say they would make staff cutbacks.
Julie Cooper, senior research executive for TNS, said: "While SMEs are now feeling less concerned, there is still an element of caution.
"As SMEs are hit harder than larger firms by fluctuations in the economy, they are more likely to remain cautious for longer."
