The Sir Titus Salt Hospital, Saltaire, must not close. That was the clear message from scores of determined people as they gave health officials a rough ride at a special meeting on the hospital's future last night. A motion asking Bradford Community Health Council to emphatically reject Bradford Area Health Authority's proposal to transfer facilities at Salt's to the nearby Norman Rae Home was passed by 68 votes to ten.

Two 350-year-old cottages, at 192 and 194 Legrams Lane, Bradford, which are amongst the oldest buildings in the city, will be demolished unless the Corporation decides that they should be preserved for their historical interest. They are still occupied, but the Health Department has reported that they are unfit to live in without extensive repairs.
