Haworth schoolboy Thomas Marshall took the first steps on the road to his dream of playing for Leeds United last week.
Eight-year-old Thomas from Lees Lane met officials from the Elland Road club on Friday and signed a junior contract.
Thomas has joined the Leeds Utd Under-9 squad, beating off competition from thousands of other hopefuls to claim a place in the final 10.
His mother Alison said: "We are very proud of him and Thomas is absolutely delighted. It's always been his dream to play for Leeds.
Thomas, a striker, has signed a 12-month contract with Leeds. He will travel to the club's academy at Thorpe Arch twice a week for training and if successful could have the contract renewed.
Alison added: "We understand that he has a long way to go, ee just want to support him and take it from year-to-year.
"We said to him just enjoy this year and see what happens."
