James Hare will march out to a fanfare of the common man tonight - and then prove he is a cut above the rest by becoming king of the Commonwealth.
The welterweight from Roberttown headlines West Yorkshire's biggest boxing night of the year.
He takes on Australian Julian Holland topping a bill that also features local talent Mark Hobson, Dale Robinson, Lee Armstrong and Bradford's Jamil Hussain.
Hare, dubbed "Lord of the Manor" for his affluent farmhouse roots, is the class act that the 1,500 sell-out audience at Huddersfield Sports Centre want to see.
He said: "When I was about 13 I was in a schoolboy final and was trying to imagine what it would be like to box on a show like this.
"I've heard the reception the top fighters have got on big nights like this.
"It's always been my dream to one day get that chance. I guess my time has arrived now.
"I've got my music sorted out - Fanfare of the Common Man - which was what they used to come out to for the stock-car racing at Odsal!
"But whatever happens tonight it's going to be a great occasion and a superb atmosphere.
"I'm getting nervous but that's the way I always deal with it."
Hare, 25, will fight over the full 12-round distance for the first time. But trainer Chris Aston is confident he can stay the pace.
Aston said: "James has been through 25 rounds in his last three fights without any problem and he's shown the stamina to go that bit longer.
"He looks in great spirits for this one, almost as if his mind and body have come together to deal with everything Holland can throw at him."
Highly-rated Robinson returns from an 11-month exile to take on Jason Thomas while bantamweight Hussain faces a fascinating rematch with Darren Cleary from Salford after their draw at Crawley last month.
Aston said: "It's a great-looking card and all the fights have held together.
"It's going to be a fantastic night of boxing and will show how strong the sport is becoming in this area.
"Tickets have been going like hot cakes and people have been talking about it for months." Armchair pundits will also be able to enjoy the boxing feast. Sky Sports 1 will show the Huddersfield bill live from 8pm.
