Park Avenue 5, Colwyn Bay 0: A Jason Maxwell hat-trick was the highlight of another high-scoring win as Park Avenue left their opponents in the UniBond Premier relegation play-off place.
It was a sixth straight league win for Trevor Storton's men and it lifted them to tenth place as they end their season in fantastic style. They have just two games remaining, the second leg of the League Cup final at Accrington Stanley tomorrow, and a visit from Whitby Town on Friday.
"It was pleasing to see three different scorers and that goes double for Phil Lindley," said manager Storton. "We all know about Jason's ability and Dean Martin has been magnificent since he came in. He has got four goals in six but it will have young Phil's confidence good to come on as a sub and get on the scoresheet.
"In many ways this was one of the best wins of the season. We didn't get anywhere near the level of performance we reached at Gateshead, Barrow or even Bishop Auckland, but we fully deserved what we got.
"They came to Bradford needing points to get out of the relegation zone, we were down to the bare bones of our squad yet we have beaten them by five without really stretching ourselves.
"It was a thoroughly good day for Avenue. We didn't play well in the first half but it was nice to get a result like this without firing on all cylinders.
"It will be a boost to the confidence of the players available for the cup final at Accrington tomorrow. But we will have so many selection problems that we will still be going there as underdogs despite having a one-goal lead from the first leg."
Avenue were boosted by the return from an ankle injury of centre back Micky Thompson He was needed after James Stansfield's injury was confirmed as a hairline fracture.
Maxwell grabbed his first in the 25th minute when he converted a low Andy Hayward centre from the edge of the six- yard box. Maxwell and Hayward were involved in the build-up for the second as Martin hit a ten-yard volley right on half-time.
The game restarted but just before the teams left the field for the interval Dean Calcutt and Bay's Graham Roberts were shown red cards following an scuffle.
The combination of Maxwell and Hayward was in action again just before the hour. Hayward controlled a cross from Mark Hancock and set Maxwell free to make it 3-0.
Lindley came off the bench and 13 minutes from time turned in a shot that keeper Billy Stewart could only parry, Maxwell was on hand and he fired home the loose ball.
Maxwell's cross then picked out Lindley and the substitute drove in from outside the six-yard box.
