Kirklees Unison is organising a demonstration and rally on Bank Holiday Monday to highlight the plight of school support staff.
The union is fighting to bring an end to term-time contracts, which many people have instead of the year-round salary enjoyed by teachers.
The campaign is being backed by supporters around the country who are concerned about the possible use of support staff as cheap replacements for teachers.
A spokesman said: "Although Kirklees Council has signalled its support for our campaign, we are still on term-time contracts and many of us earn less than £5,000 a year. We are supporting pupils with all manner of difficulties who require specialist help. This demonstration is to pull everyone together and keep up the pressure on the Council."
There will be family attractions, including a bouncing castle, at the demontsration outside Huddersfield Library, which will last from 11am to 1pm.
