Leon Pryce climbed off his sick bed to give a man-of-the-match performance for Bradford Bulls last night at Valley Parade.

The 20-year-old full back was laid low by a 48-hour bug over the weekend.

But he recovered in time to play a major part in helping the Bulls recover from 10-0 down inside five minutes to defeat Salford City Reds 44-18 and stay top of Super League.

"I have been sick for the last two days and haven't eaten a thing," admitted Pryce who scored a tremendous 60-metre run try.

"I tried to train on Sunday, but didn't do much. I was just glad to be out there playing, and I felt all right during the game. I think it was just a bug. I thought I would be tired because I hadn't eaten anything, but when you are winning it makes it a bit easier to play.

"Also I wanted to get a bit of game-time under my belt for Friday's match at Castleford."

Bulls coach Brian Noble said: "Kris Radlinski's performance in the cup final at the weekend was good, but Leon was throwing up all day Sunday and the day before with food poisoning, and we only made the decision at lunch-time yesterday that he should play.

"Maybe we should get all the full backs in Super League to be sick before they play because Leon was outstanding."

Pryce said: "Salford started brightly, but both of their tries were off last tackles, and after that we sorted ourselves out.

"What we need now are some high-intensity games like at Castleford and Leeds over the next two Fridays.

"No disrespect to Salford, but those games will attract bumper crowds and emotions will be running high.

"Apart from Wigan away, I wouldn't say we have played a good game yet.

"We have played well in patches, but we haven't played well collectively yet, but that will come soon - hopefully at Castleford."

Meanwhile, tickets for the game against Leeds at Headingley on Friday, May 10 will go on sale tomorrow (9am).

Due to congestion at the turnstiles, while building work takes place at Headingley, Leeds have offered a £1 reduction across the board to anyone buying a ticket from Odsal before the game.

The Bulls have main stand and paddock seats available at £16 and £13 respectively, and ground tickets at £10, with reductions for concessions.
