You have a bit of spare paint and a few hours on your hands so what do you do?
Paint a Union Flag on your garage door in honour of the Queen's Golden Jubliee, of course!
Well at least that's what Brian Holmes did, but even by his wife Christine's own admission "he's a bit daft".
The 60-year-old, of Wynford Way, Low Moor, is well used to the attention his garage door draws because it has been all colours of the rainbow since the Queen's Silver Jubilee of 1977.
After painting a banner for a street party, Brian decided to use the left-over paint to cover up a rather drab grey undercoat on the double garage door.
With a bit of masking tape he managed to get the Union flag lines straight and it certainly looked the part on the big day when friends, neighbours and children gathered in the cul-de-sac for a party.
And just a few years later in 1981 when the country was gearing up for the royal wedding of Charles and Diana, the garage was again the centre of Wynford Way's street party with its patriotic paint.
"There was bunting everywhere and it was a lovely day," said Brian, who has lived in the street for 33 years with Christine, bringing up their three children Matthew, 33, Phillip, 36 and Robert, 35.
In 1982 the garage was repainted to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the scouting movement and later the 70th anniversary of the cub scouts.
With the Queen's Golden Jubliee nearly upon us Brian became disconcerted about the lack of enthusiasm people were showing. So out came the paint brushes and masking tape, and up went a bright new design complete with the official logo of the Queen's Golden Jubliee. "Even I didn't know he was going to do it," said Christine.
After getting the logo from the Internet Brian cut a template for it. He used masking tape for the rest and painted the words on free hand using normal emulsion paint.
"It only took a day to do" he said. "I haven't seen a lot of the logo around and no one seemed to be doing anything so this is my bit for the Jubliee, it needs a kick-start."
The neighbours don't seem to mind and local children have given it the thumbs up. "A little kid came past and said that it looked 'well ace'," said Brian.
As for what is coming next to the garage door, even Brian doesn't know - just watch this space.
