This year's Monteith Cup Competition, sponsored again by Hollins Hill Car Sales, was held at Rufford Bowling Club. Thirty-seven entries competed for this trophy with play beginning at 10am. Richard Lawrence (Rawdon Park) won the final when he beat Audrey Sharp (Greenbottom) 21014. Derek Benson was the referee.
The Airedale-Wharfedale Team Cup Competition gets under way on Friday with the preliminary round of the Ronnie Collins 2002 Competition. Yeadon Park play Tarnfield at Guiseley, Grove Hill B play Shipley Club A at Rufford, Menston play Rufford B at Moor Allerton and Greenbottom B play Moor Allerton at Grove Hill.
The preliminary round of the Jennings Crackles Cup Competition is to be played on Saturday, May 4, when Wharfemeadows A play Idle at Wayside, Oxenhope play Yeadon Park A at Wharfemeadows, Burley-in-Wharfedale play Wayside A at Idle and The Glen A play Greenbottom A at Yeadon Park.
In the Dobson Challenge Shield preliminary round on the same day Greenbottom B play Idle B at Shipley Club, Menston A play Ilkley at Burley-in-Wharfedale, Baildon B play Myrtle Park B at Greenbottom, Holbeck Moor play Shipley Club C at Knaresborough, Tarnfield A play Wharfemeadows B at Menston, Knaresborough play Yeadon Park at Tarnfield and Burley-in-Wharfedale play Northcliffe at Myrtle Park.
The Salts Trophy also begins on Saturray with a preliminary round when Wayside B play Wharfemeadows C at Northcliffe and Shipley Club D play Shipley Club E at Royd House. All games commence at 2.30pm.
