Otley took the points in theirn opening day clash with Bardsey when Australian all-roubnder John Rudolph made an early mark.

Bardsey were restricted to 162-8 with James Davies returning 3-41.

Otley then knocked off the runs for the loss of only two wickets with Rudolph leading the way with an unbeaten 77.

He shared an unbroken partnership of 134 with Robert Atkinson who made an unbeaten 62 as Otley embarked on what they hope will be a better season as they bid to regain their premier division status.

Pool gained a four runs win over Illingworth leavimng just three balls of the match remaining. Pool made 186-8 with Australian Trevor Kerr restricting them somewhat with a return of 6-81 but his fellow Aussie Tim Bateman grabbed the glory taking 5-51 to put Illingworth out for 182. This was despite a valiant 65 from Sam Lavery.

Record

ADEL second team batsmen Simon Wardley and Bill Holmes set a new Airedale and Wharfedale League record with their stand of 227 on Saturday.

Opener Holmes, the former Bingley and Yeadon Bradford League player, hit an unbeaten 79 and shared his unbroken second wicket stand of 227 with Wardley, who hammered a fine unbeaten 157.

They set Otley a target of 247-1 and the Cross Green side made a valiant attempt finishing on 219-9 thanks to a superb 94 from Michael Smith and 56 from Carl Smith.
