SUPPORTERS of UniB-ond soccer club Guiseley AFC have reacted to news that their team may have to move out of town by calling a crunch meeting with chairman Phil Rogerson.
The majority of supporters do not want to have to travel to Keighley to watch the club's first team compete in the UniBond League next season.
And a group has asked chairman Rogerson to front a meeting, open to the public, in the Guiseley clubhouse next Thursday, May 9, at 8.30pm.
Guiseley AFC's problems with their Nethermoor Park ground mainly revolve around the club's inability to gain planning permission to improve their dilapidated facilities, which have been there for nearly 150 years.
And with the restructuring of the football pyramid on the horizon the Guiseley chairman feels that the only answer to stop the team from being demoted because of their poor facilities would be to move them to another ground.
He has had talks with Keighley Cougars RL Club and their ground has an A grading for Guiseley's needs in the UniBond League.
Their home ground at Nethermoor Park, Guiseley, does not have the required facilities, planning proposals in the past have been turned down.
Club directors seem to see no point in spending thousands of pounds on up-grading Neth-ermoor when their lease has only one year to run and Leeds City Council will not talk to them about the lease until it is time for it to run out.
The proposed move would see Guiseley's first team play their home games at Keighley, while the reserves and youth teams would continue to play about 60 games a season at Nethermoor.
Anyone interested in the future of Guiseley AFC is invited to attend the meeting.
