Long Lee Primary School has been given a prestigious School Achievement Award.
The accolade, which is given to less than a third of schools in Britain, is a Government award set up to recognise improved standards of pupils and reward the hard work of teachers.
In a letter to the school Minister of State for School Standards Stephen Timms praised Long Lee for the hard work and dedication of its teaching and support staff.
Head teacher Louise Smith said: "We are very pleased to receive this award in recognition of the effort everyone has made.
"The award is for rapid improvement of results, and is yet further evidence of how committed the staff and governors are to raising standards.
"At Long Lee we have high expectations of pupils' learning and behaviour, and are constantly striving to reach the highest standard of educational provision."
