It was a close shave but nine Silsden men have raised more than £1,000 for a specialist cancer unit.
A group of friends decided to do a sponsored head shave to raise funds for the unit at Cookridge Hospital, Leeds, after Matthew Bentley, 27, was diagnosed with testicular cancer in January.
Matthew has been undergoing chemotherapy at Cookridge Cancer Centre and is due to find out whether his treatment has been successful next week.
His father, Robert, said: "We're just keeping our fingers crossed that all goes well. It's been a struggle but we're pleased with the amount we raised. It's higher than the original £1,000 we set ourselves and my hair has just about grown back!
"Thanks to everyone who took part and to all the sponsors.
"We've had plenty on at the moment, but haven't ruled out another fundraising event, we don't know exactly what the money will be used for at the centre - but they always need funds."
Matthew's girlfriend Annette organised the event at the Punch Bowl in March for five of his friends but in the end another couple of friends, Matthew and his dad joined in and a total of nine braved the razor.
