The Second World War brought many hardships - and it was not just food and essential items that were rationed.

An illustrated talk at Red House Museum in Gomersal on Sunday will take a look at how people coped fashionwise during the war years.

As part of Museums Month events, the talk called Rationed Fashion: Clothing and fashionable dress during World War Two, will be presented by Katina Bill - a member of the Kirklees Community History Service's Collections Team.

She will talk about how the fashion world coped without Paris and how ordinary people coped without the availability of clothes and materials. She will also explain the Government regulations regarding utility and clothing production and the long-term effects the war had on the fashion world.

And she will reveal how people got round the regulations and the type of items they made at home.

The talk, which starts at 2pm, will be held upstairs in the Barn which has stairs-only access.
