Haworth secured a six-run victory over Long Lee to set the early pace after two weeks of the Division One season.

The Worth Valley side made the short journey to Long Lee and were restricted to 130. Jamie Rowell scored 36 and Adrian Ratcliffe clocked up 35 as the home club's Australian bowler Michael Iles took four for 51.

Long Lee seemed in no trouble as they reached 80-2, but then there was a dramatic collapse and the Keighley side crashed to defeat.

Damien Rowell took 5-34 and Jamie Rowell 3-27 to dismiss the home team with Richard Ayrton top scoring on 48 and Paul Stowell adding 44.

Barrowford and Embsay are alongside Haworth at the top of the table and the Red Rose side dismissed a ten-man Skipton CI team for just 51 with John Hargreaves taking 7-32. The visitors lost five wickets reaching their target.

Cullingworth entertained Embsay at their Halifax Road ground and batted first, scoring 138. Embsay lost a wicket on 40 before cruising to a nine wicket win with Jason Waddington scoring 60 not out and Duncan Bullough 32 not out.

Oakworth got their season going by seeing off Bradley at Cure Hill, The Keighley side were asked to bat first and scored 183-7 with Robert Hopkinson making 80, Jon Crossley 35 and 17-year-old Chris Mooney 31 as James Heseltine claimed 3-48.

Michael Scarborough took 6-33 and Jeff Inman chipped in with 3-14 to make sure nothing went wrong as Bradley were dismissed for 95, Neil Andrews scoring 40.

Foulridge travelled to Thornton and scored a modest 95 with Mark Paxton in top form to take 7-43. Tim Gates led the Thornton reply with 39 not out as they won by eight wickets.

There was a close finish at Fence where Cowling took the points thanks to a narrow one-wicket win. Pendle Forest reached 121-9 in their innings with Nick Swinbank scoring 37. Nick Ridding was rewarded with a place in the first team and took 4-25 while Miles Nicholson picked up 4-32.

Seasoned campaigner Joe Gordon held the reply together with 58 as Nick Daniels had the best bowling figures with 4-20.

In the second division Denholme's Rob Taylor scored 62 not out as his side successfully chased Cononley's 111 to win by five wickets. Euan Scarr scored 51 for Cononley.

Jimmy Nelson's hustled Glusburn out for 89 at Bull Holme then struggled themselves before getting home by three wickets.

Ingrow St John's Colin Bot-tomley was in the runs again. He scored 51 as the Saints cantered to a comfortable five-wicket victory at Penistone Park. Haworth WE had made 131 batting first with Joe Nash scoring 71.

Carleton entertained Gargrave and scored 192-9 in their overs. Neville Allen making 47 as Ray Jones took 5-68. In reply the visitors were restricted to 119-9. Jones scored 34 as Allen took 4-31 and James Brewin 4-58.

Sutton were in good form at home to Chatburn rattling up 200-4 in their innings with Jonathan Reape scoring 71 not out.

The Ribblesdale side never really got to grips with the situation and were dismissed for 126. Steve Procter scored 37 and Richard Shovelton 34 as Justin Holdsworth claimed 6-62

Barrowford and Embsay are the early pacesetters in the Third Division. On a difficult surface at the Bull Holme the home side were restricted to 108-0 in their overs. Veteran Ken Halstead taking 5-47. Visitors, Pendle Forest were then hustled out for 68 with John Cant finishing with 6-17.

Embsay were really on a hid-ing to nothing when Long Lee turned up with only eight men. The Keighley side batted first and were knocked over for a miser-able 17. The Shires Laners knocked off the runs for the loss of one wicket in just 19 balls.

Champions Oakworth scored their first victory of the season over at Cowling. Chris Cleaver scored 31 as the homeside opened with 143. Gary Searby claiming 4-33.

The Cure Hill side cantered to a 4-wicket victory at the expense of Glusburn at Park Field. The visitors rattled up 260-6 with Mark Rendell scoring 69no, Ian Holme 51 and G Fletcher 50. Rendell followed this with 7-24 as the homesters stumbled to 140 all out.

Bradley are still without a victory after going down by three wickets at home to Skipton CI, with John Stuttard 6-52 and Steve Davidson 4-44 doing the damage for the visitors. The former then scored 34 to set up the victory. Ashley Walmsley, 6-34, doing his best for the home side.

There was a dramatic finish up at Haworth where visitors Thornton won by three wickets as Dan Stott smashed the last ball out of the ground to take the points.

The Bronte side had earlier scored 154 with Alan Balderstone making 39 and Ben England 36 as Mark Laycock took 3-45 and Nick Bowker 3-46, which included the hat trick. J Cowgill 45 and Bowker 37 had put the visitors on their way to victory.

In the Fourth Division Aire-dale scored 231-5 at home to Denholme. The visitors were dismissed for 95.

Chatburn received three points when Ingrow were unable to raise a team. Sutton's Alan Robertson scored the day's only century - 111 - to go with Richard Kidd's 43 as the side plundered 234-8 in their overs over the hill at Cononley. John Tatham 82 led the reply, which closed on 167-6 with Robertson taking 3-45.

Foulridge enjoyed a nine-wicket win over Long Lee III.

Gargrave went down by five wickets at home to Keighley TC.

Finally Ingrow St John's saw off the challenge of Pendle Forest III at Street Lane. The visitors made 139-7 with G Prophet scoring 64 as D Cotton claimed 4-47. The Saints reply revolved around David Unwin 52 and Imran who scored 43.
