AFTER their County Trophy winning performance last week Steeton came down to earth with a bump - and now must get three points from their last two games to make certain of promotion.
During their 20-game unbeaten run in mid-season they had looked to be running away with the Division One championship, but a combination of injuries and midweek fixtures have taken their toll as the season reaches its climax.
Mid-table Ardsley Celtic secured a 2-1 victory with all the goals coming in the second half on a poor pitch.
Steeton has six first choice players out of action because of injury and work commitments and after holding the home side 0-0 at the break they saw them take a 2-0 lead before starting to fight back. They scraped one goal, but could not find a vital equaliser.
After the game manager Jez Fay said: "We just had too many players out, the night games are destroying us, but it isn't panic stations yet.
"We have to get three points from the last two games to be sure of promotion and if the other results go our way we would also go up as champions, but we need four points to be certain of being champions."
Silsden pulled off two superb back-to-back victories but the Premier Division title has eluded them despite looking good all season.
On Saturday they beat Storthes Hall 3-2 with goals from Steve Gray, Jimmy Hedges and Bob Pearson while Lloyd Jessett and Steve Slack scored second half goals for Storthes.
On Monday they followed up with a 3-1 victory over bottom club Stump Cross. Silsden's goals were scored by Hedges, Mark McLennon and Gavin Finn.
Two goals from Joe Brady secured a 3-2 victory for Keighley Shamrocks over Altofts with Adam Dyke scoring their other goal.
On Monday they were beaten 3-2 by Campion with Mick Metcalfe and Martin Ross on target for Shammies.
Roy Mason was on target for Keighley Phoenix in Reserve Division One as they went down to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Hemsworth Miners Welfare.
Steeton Reserves looked to be suffering the after effects of the previous night's County Trophy celebrations as Hunsworth Reserves exacted revenge for their first team with a 5-0 victory.
