Government Minister and Keighley Labour MP Mr. Bob Cryer has turned down an invitation from the Lord Mayor of Bradford to an "in honour of MP's" lunch in the City Hall. Mr. Cryer has called for spending on civic hospitality to be "drastically cut" because of the tight council purses. And he has told the Lord Mayor that there are "many more pressing matters" on which the money for the civic lunch, on May 13, could be spent.

Carpets in 12 colours can be woven on a machine made by John. T. Hardaker Ltd., of Bradford, the prototype of which is on show at the Castle Bromwich section of the British Industries Fair. The machine, costing £700, will take its first trials for commercial production when the fair closes said Mr. H.Batty, general manager. It is the only one in existence, he added.
