Alan Combe is still hanging on for Bradford City's call despite joining Dundee United to start pre-season training.
Combe lined up today with his former Tannadice team-mates as they began building up for a Scottish campaign in which he will not feature.
The 28-year-old keeper, who has a year left on his contract, remains desperate to return south of the border after a three-month spell at Valley Parade. And United boss Alex Smith is just as keen to get him off the wage bill.
Combe said: "I've been dreading going back to training but I've no choice. I'll just get my head down and work while I wait for something to happen.
"My agent is in constant touch with me but he is fed up with saying the same things. He's heard from a couple of other First Division clubs but I still want to go to Bradford.
"The last thing I want is to stay at United. I probably won't even get a numbered shirt - I've always been number one here but I doubt I'll be anything now."
Nicky Law is keen to bring back City fans' favourite Combe who excelled in the 16 games he played on loan last season. But the Bantams boss is not allowed to sign any players until the club are out of administration.
Combe added: "Going back to Bradford is what I've wanted all along and that's not changed. As long as there is a chance and the manager is still interested then I'm happy to keep waiting.
"I'm not going to play under Alex Smith, he's made that very clear. They've got two keepers in front of me here and I think there are looking for another one as well.
"After the interest that Bradford have shown, he's budgeting on me not being here next season and that would suit me.
"While the World Cup is going on there's no transfer market at the moment. I can only think of two moves that have happened in Scotland.
"But I'm sure as the season gets nearer and everyone starts panicking, then it should take off. I'm just hoping Bradford can get out of administration quickly and perhaps a deal can be done.
"Wolves is a very tough game to start with, but I'd love the chance to be playing for Bradford against them."
