Two 12-year-olds have kept quiet for a full day at school - and raised at least £75 for the Telegraph & Argus Bradford Can...Cancer Research Appeal.
Laura Baldwin and Sophie Boocock, pupils at Beckfoot School, Bingley, stayed silent from 8.30am until 3pm while they attended lessons.
Laura, of Cottingley, said they found the feat very hard, but managed to keep their mouths shut despite attempts by schoolmates to get them to speak.
The pair decided to support the appeal because Laura's grandma had recently died from the disease.
The girls, from year seven, thought up the idea themselves and collected about £75 through sponsorship and had a collecting tin to add to proceeds.
"We are pleased with it," said Laura.
The Bradford Can...appeal is aiming to raise £1m for cancer research at the University of Bradford and Bradford Royal Infirmary. Once that target is reached, it will unlock another £5m from Cancer Research UK.
