A pensioner was held at gunpoint by a gang of teenagers who stole his car early today.
The carjackers climbed into the 66-year-old man's Proton car and demanded the keys when he stopped at traffic lights near Thornbury roundabout, Bradford.
The pensioner, who is from Pudsey, fled after one of the robbers produced a silver handgun.
As detectives today began the hunt for the suspects, the victim - who was not hurt - was said to be recovering from the shock of what happened.
A police spokesman said the man had been travelling from Bradford towards his Pudsey home along Dick Lane when the incident occurred at 2am.
The driver had just stopped his P-registered grey Proton Persona car at a red light when the gang of three approached the vehicle, from the direction of the Odeon cinema complex.
One of the men appeared at the driver's side window, tapping his wrist as if to indicate he wanted to know the time, while the other two surrounded the car.
The first man then opened the door, ordering the driver to get out.
The raider holding the gun opened the passenger-side door and got in.
The victim, who was today being interviewed by officers, is then thought to have fled the vehicle. It was driven off along Leeds Road, taking the first exit on the roundabout towards Bradford.
Pudsey CID today launched an appeal for witnesses to the incident. All three suspects are described as Asian males, 5ft 11ins tall, between 17 and 18 years old, and of thin build.
The suspect who approached the driver's side window had black curly hair, a thin moustache, and was wearing black jeans, a baseball cap, and a knitted navy-coloured top.
The man who brandished the gun is described as rugged looking, with black hair, a gaunt, long face and big nose. He was clean shaven and wore dark jeans and a grey and blue jacket. The third may have had a beard or moustache.
