MORE than 250 balloons disappeared on the wind at Holycroft School last Friday.
The balloon release was a double event to commemorate the Queen's Golden Jubilee and to mark the inauguration of the schools new parents group.
The 257 balloons were released in total and children had to pay 50p for each balloon.
The parents group plan to follow this, their first official event, with other fundraising activities. The money collected will go towards organising other events for the pupils such as bowling, discos and school trips.
One of the organisers, Sharon Key, wife of parents' group chairman, David, said: "It was just a bit of fun really, and to boost funds. In total we made £98."
Pupils are pictured watching as the balloons are released.
