Jason Ramshaw was at Guard House School, Keighley, for a special two-way award ceremony.
The school was presented with a prestigious education extra award and cheque for £400 by the rugby player for its work in out of school activities.
Deputy head Jenny Cornwall heaped praise on learning mentors Cathy Liddle and Sue Helliwell and said that the money would be used to take the children away during the summer holidays.
She said: "We are very proud and honoured and this award will help our school to continue providing out of school activities."
Soon after, Jason found himself on the receiving end when he was presented with a cheque for £370 by the school, which had organised a line dance and a disco to raise the money for the Cougars star, who is in his testimonial year.
The deputy head added: "This was in appreciation of Jason's contribution over the years to Guard House School.
"He has been involved in coaching and has accompanied the school on outings, including a trip to the Millennium Dome.
"He has been a superb role model for the children and this was our way of saying a big thank you to him on behalf of the staff, parents and pupils."
Jason, showing a softer side to that seen on the rugby field, said: "I'm a bit embarrassed about the school putting these functions on and raising money for me.
"But I think it's absolutely marvellous, I'm over the moon," he added.
Keighley Cougars' Jason Ramshaw was on hand at Guard House Primary School to present the award and pick up a cheque. With him are, from left, Callum Hudson, Sue Hellewell, Leah Cook, Leon Smith, Sammy Cook, James Smith and Cathy Liddle.
