The clouds had more than a silver lining last week when the children of Aire View School at Silsden launched hundreds of golden balloons into the sky.
The school held a 'Golden Garden Party' last Wednesday to mark both the Queen's Jubilee and the opening of their new garden.
The garden, which was built on derelict land behind the classrooms with the help of Aireview Fundraising, includes a water feature with a bridge and was filled with yellow flowers for the event.
The children paraded the crowns they had made and had a picnic, and later on they released around 300 golden balloons to mark the occasion.
Each child had a balloon, plus a few for the staff too, who did not want to be left out, and everybody attached their names and the school's address to the balloons to see how far away they would go.
Toni Birch, chairman of Aireview Fundraising, said: "It was wonderful, but I couldn't have done it without all the help from everyone.
"The children all screamed and cheered when they let all the balloons go.
"And as they rose up, the gold of the balloons against the sky made them look like little stars.
"I understand it brought tears to a few eyes."
