BBC Look North presenter Harry Gration took time out to help organisers of the Sarah McKie Memorial Fund sort the lots for a gala dinner auction.

The charity, which is already half way to its target of £100,000, now has its sights set firmly on September 27 and its gala dinner and charity auction at the Bankfield Hotel, Cottingley.

"We are aiming to raise £10,000 on the night and judging by some of the top quality lots that have already been donated, I am sure we're going to do it," said Mr Gration.

"There's Tim Henman's tennis racket, a signed Pinsent and Redgrave T-shirt, a signed Carl Fogerty cap and an original Coronation Street script, as well as dozens of other collectable and luxury items -- anyone planning to come should remember to bring their cheque book!"

The Sarah McKie Memorial Fund was set up by Yorkshire Co-operatives and Airedale Hospital in memory of the Haworth teenager, who at 19 became one of the UK's youngest victims of breast cancer.

All money raised by the fund will be used to improve cancer facilities and care at Airedale Hospital, where Sarah received treatment and support.

Auctioneer Paddy Wrightson will ensure that every item is going, going, gone at the gala dinner and Harry Gration be the after dinner speaker.

The winner of a Fiat Punto, donated to the fund's grand prize draw by Yorkshire Co-operatives' Sunwin Motor Group, will be announced at the gala dinner and there will also be a luxury raffle and a silent auction, with sealed bids for mystery lots.

Jennie Whiteley, of Yorkshire Co-operatives, said: "We are committed to raising £100,000 in memory of Sarah, who showed enormous courage and kindness in her fundraising efforts for Airedale Hospital.

"We have been overwhelmed by the amount of support we have received from local businesses and individuals."

Tables of eight, ten or 12 are available for the dinner.

Tickets -- priced £50, including a four-course dinner with a half-bottle of wine -- can be obtained from Jennie Whiteley, Yorkshire Co-operatives, 129 Sunbridge Road, Bradford BD1 2NJ (phone 01274 763550).
