SUZANNE ROBERTS has been called up to represent England in the Commonwealth Games in Manchester next month.
The 23-year-old hammer thrower has come through the Keighley-based Athletics Development Scheme and is now poised to break into the athletics 'big time'.
She started with the development scheme as a 13-year-old high jumper. "She went on to take part in the pentathlon, heptathlon, shot and eventually the hammer," said Development Scheme coach John Woodcock.
He added: "She has represented England and Great Britain as an Under-20 and Under-23 international and has now reached the senior level.
"Suzanne is an example of how the broad-based coaching scheme can discover the discipline best suited to each athlete."
Suzanne took a Business Studies degree at Loughborough University and is now taking a masters degree and continuing her athletics career in the Midlands.
