A would-be robber threatened to harm a baby when her father refused to hand over cash while sitting in a Bradford park.
The incident happened at Bowling Park, West Bowling, at 11.45am yesterday as the man was with his 16-month-old daughter near Bowling Park Drive.
Detective Constable Steve Wedge, of Bradford South CID, said the 33-year-old father was approached by the suspect who started talking to the baby.
The man then demanded money from her father and when he said he did not have any, the suspect grabbed the child's clothing and threatened to harm her.
Det Con Wedge said her father then jumped up and fought with the attacker. The suspect ran off empty handed and the child was not injured.
Her father, who lives at Draughton Street, Bankfoot, was left with small cuts to his face which did not need hospital treatment.
The suspect is described as an Afro-Caribbean male with light, yellow-coloured skin. He was 30 years old, more than 6ft tall, very thin and with acne, stubble and bushy eyebrows.
He was wearing a dark baseball cap, dirty grey tracksuit and dirty worn out black trainers.
Det Con Wedge said: "This was a nasty, unprovoked attack and if anyone was in the park or knows the identity of this man, please contact the police."
