The manner of Hanging Heaton's victory over Baildon was the only shock in the Priestley Cup quarter-finals.

Exacting revenge for last year's Heavy Woollen Cup final defeat, Hanging Heaton dumped the holders out of the competition in humiliating fashion.

Despite a Simon Davies 50 at the top of the innings, Baildon managed just 86 in 34 overs on a tricky Heaton wicket.

Steve Foster did most of the damage, clearing out the middle and bottom order with five wickets in his ten allotted overs.

And 23 overs later, Baildon's hopes of retaining the cup were gone as Steve Bartle and Steve Foster knocked off the required score with their wickets intact.

A ten-wicket victory for the home side and Baildon's three-match winning streak was over.

In the other all Division One tie, Spen Victoria failed to match Baildon's league success of the day before and were well beaten by Pudsey Congs.

With Congs defeated for the first time this season on Saturday, Spen went into the game with high hopes of pulling off a cup shock.

Gareeb Razak's second half-century of the weekend helped the home side post an impressive 203 for Congs to chase.

But Barbar Butt's unbeaten 82 ensured the target was reached with eight wickets still in the hutch.

Division Two's representation in the competition ended abruptly as Mirfield and Bankfoot were knocked out by top-flight opponents. Mirfield put up a brave 206 for six at East Bierley but it was never going to be enough at the compact ground - especially with Anthony McGrath on form.

In a rare appearance for his club side, the county player hit a scintillating unbeaten century as the total was reached with just four wickets down and eight overs still to play.

Bierley will be hoping he can return for their semi-final when they take on Pudsey Congs.

And Pudsey St Lawrence booked their tie against Hanging Heaton with a comfortable win over Bankfoot. Tariq Aziz continued his wonderful recent form, smashing 151 as St Lawrence raced to 318 for five.

Gary Fellows also added 55, including a 143-run partnership with Aziz, as the unreachable target was hit.

Bankfoot managed 38 overs against the Division One big boys, but could only muster 142 before the final dismissal. St Lawrence won by 176 runs.
