Benito Carbone has already signed for Como according to his English-based agent.

As reported in the Telegraph & Argus on Saturday, City's Italian ace will be joining the Serie A new boys.

And Giovanni Paladini, Carbone's representative in England, today claimed a deal has already been done.

"Carbone signed a three-year contract with Como last week," he said. "He received a letter from Bradford cancelling his contract and now his solicitors are working on it."

The departure of £40,000-a-week Carbone could allow Nicky Law to bring in several new faces to the squad even though the club are under a transfer embargo.

The Professional Footballers' Association have bailed out City with an undisclosed loan to pay the players whose contracts were ripped up by the administrators.

Until the money is paid off, the Bantams will only be allowed to sign players when others leave. But PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor said: "If a particular player costing the club a great deal of money were to leave, it would be possible to replace him with more than one."

City chairman Geoffrey Richmond is still awaiting an announcement from Italy. He said: "Until such time that it's confirmed then Beni is still a Bradford City player, that's his legal status.

"But while it's not impossible, it's probably unlikely we will see Beni again. He has long expressed the wish he wants to go back to Italy."

Eoin Jess has ruled out a move back to Scotland. Jess informed Dundee United boss Alex Smith that he is keen to stay in England and both Nottingham Forest and Walsall are interested.
